60 Seconds with…Grace Elliott
Our ‘60 Seconds with…’ blogs are designed to provide a quick run down of what our staff do here at Itad. Here is what Grace had to say…
What’s your job here at Itad?
I am the Administration Assistant
What does that involve?
I have a varied and diverse role at Itad, helping to provide support across all teams and areas of the company. I provide to support to Finance through Accounts, the Project Officer team and Consultants, as well as providing continual administration support to the Ops Hub.
How did you get into the field?
I studied Geography and Environmental Management at university, with a focus on international development and environmental management. I travelled to Uganda to investigate the water quality and treatment habits within households in Kanungu, South West Uganda, for my final project. After my graduation I returned to Uganda to spend an additional four months co-running a volunteer research programme where I created and led a baseline research project on Agriculture in South West Uganda.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I particularly enjoy working with survey monkey; creating surveys and analysing results. I also enjoy the diverse nature of my role, each day is different and I get to work with members of staff from all areas of the company.
Taking part in Personal Safety and Awareness training provided by SaferEdge, and helping to organise a WASH results learning event in London.
Most interesting question you have been asked recently?
How much dark chocolate do you have to eat in a day to gain health benefits (if any)?
Turns out you have to eat 220mg of flavanols a day, which are full of antioxidants, to gain any health benefits. This can apparently be found in 3 big chunks of dark chocolate, depending on the cacao bean used (unfortunately I do not store this kind of information in my head so had to look this up!)
Favourite place you have visited as part of your job?
I am very much looking forward to attending the WASH learning event in London next week (and of course the Chimney House pub for our Ops hub away day!)
