What’s your job here at Itad?
(Up until very recently) Travel Assistant although I have recently moved to a different role, Project Administrator.
What does that involve?
Booking travel for internal and external staff, including flights, visas and hotels. I was also heavily involved with the Duty of Care (DoC), from the bidding stage through to the return of the staff.
How did you get into the field?
I studied Anthropology MA, which increased my interest in international development. I worked for a couple of charities and after coming back from my travels, I thought I should apply my experience to a job of organising travel.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the DoC, especially around the time of a last minute deployment. Working and developing our relationship with SaferEdge has been very interesting, and expanding on the ever changing DoC policy is always a challenge. I also particularly like working with all of the different environments – it certainly makes each trip unique! The travel to the different locations enables me to understand more about these areas and understanding the threats and risks that have to be mitigated against.
Most interesting question you have been asked recently?
I suppose it would be these questions!
Favourite place you have visited as part of your job?
Clanistan for the HEAT training by SaferEdge (or the slightly queasy visit to the ship on the Thames for a Duty of Care Seminar.)
