Country Distribution of Empowerment and Accountability Projects

The highest number of empowerment and accountability projects can be found in East and West African countries: 32 in Tanzania, 25 in Nigeria and 23 in Sierra Leone. There are also more than 20 projects targeting empowerment and accountability in both Nepal and South Sudan.

While the DFID country programmes in Bangladesh and Somalia had a budget of over £100 million in 2014/15, these countries support less than 10 projects focused on empowerment and accountability.

It should be noted that if a project is being implemented in multiple countries, it is counted in each country where it is operational.
