Pro-poor Policy Analysis – Rural Poverty Reduction, DFID
2003; India; DFID
Itad was contracted by DFID to work on this project as a continuation of pro-poor policy analysis conducted for the Banks Agriculture and Rural Development Department.
The assignment started with development of tools and methodology to analyse policy evolution and project investments in the context of rural space and poverty alleviation. These were first tested through a desk study in Washington, then applied to Bank operations in the rural sector of two programmes.
The objective of the study was to improve understanding of the rationale governing the treatment of rural poverty concerns and the relative effectiveness of World Bank activities in pursuit of rural poverty reduction objectives in two locations: Turkey, and the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh.Image © The Promise of Free Education.
