Evaluation of DFID’s Sustainable Agriculture Strategy

Itad had been contracted to undertake an evaluation of DFID’s sustainable agriculture strategy. The assignment was conducted over an 18 month period.
The main outcomes included the extent to which DFID sustainable agriculture activities had been consistent with the sustainable agriculture strategy (SAS); The relevance, efficiency and effectiveness of selected recent projects; The impact of selected projects and the SAS as a whole – particularly their contribution to reducing poverty, improving food security and improving productivity of land and aquatic resources; Lessons that could be drawn for good practice in the design and implementation of sustainable agriculture projects, providing guidance for the new sustainable rural livelihoods approach.Image © Ploughing with an ox in Mozambique’s Zambezi valley.
