World Bank’s Impact Assessment of the Village Level Participatory Approach.

2003; Cameroon; World Bank

Itad was contracted by the World Bank to explore issues of social capital, the cost-effectiveness of participatory techniques and their impact upon issues of ill-being and well-being.

Village level participatory (VLP) development strategies have gained increasing importance as methods of poverty reduction and sustainable development over the last two decades. They focus on direct interaction of local people with development organisations, government institutions and non-governmental organisations. Participatory approaches direct the attention towards the role of local groups and organisations and are at present a base for debates on the assessment of the Social Capital and Community Driven Development. The Village Level Participatory Approach Impact Study (VLPA study) was implemented within this context.
