Transparency International, Measuring and Monitoring Impact Movement-Wide

Itad is to providing support to the MEL unit of Transparency International in the development of an approach to measuring and monitoring outcome and impact.

20/08/2014

Established in 2011, Transparency International’s (TI) MEL unit is tasked with conceptualising, implementing and maintaining the organisation’s overall monitoring, evaluation and learning system.

Broadly, the system focuses on three pillars; results, through monitoring the outcomes and results achieved through the organisation’s programmatic work; performance, through monitoring standard organisational performance areas at the TI-Secretariat and Network levels; and impact, through monitoring the impact of the overall TI network.

Our role

The main objective of Itad’s consultancy is to provide conceptual and technical support to the MEL unit in the conceptualisation, development and piloting of a Movement-wide approach to measuring and monitoring outcome and impact. Itad’s team of three consultants is providing support in:

  1. Assessing the viability of having a Movement-wide approach to measuring and monitoring outcomes and impact. This includes scanning the sector as well as learning about the Secretariat and the Movement in order to understand whether such an approach would be suitable.
  2. Conceptualising a robust approach including the development of a strong underlying rationale, as well as a clear indication of the operationalisation potential, including resources’ implications.
  3. Developing the necessary manuals, data protocols, tools, documents that facilitate implementation of the approach.
  4. Piloting the approach – this includes supporting the unit in the piloting of the approach at field and Chapter level.
