Our technical themes have started work across varied and interesting projects over the last six months, here we look at some of the highlights.
Climate change theme broadens work on measuring resilience
Itad’s Climate Change theme are conducting a Strategic Evaluation of the World Food Programme’s Support for Enhanced Resilience. Through this evaluation, we will help to build a robust body of evidence and expertise to support WFP decision-making relating to enhancing resilience, including case studies in a number of countries world-wide. The theme is also working with the World Bank on a Learning Partnership on the Dedicated Grant Mechanism for Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities, a unique window for funding stakeholders in selected Forest Investment Programme (FIP) countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America, supporting Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities to take action to reduce deforestation and forest degradation.
Education theme starts work with the Global Partnership for Education
Our Education theme has started work on the Design and Implementation of Country Level Evaluations, 2017-2020 on behalf of the Global Partnership for Education. The GPE is multi-stakeholder partnership and funding platform that aims to strengthen education systems in developing countries in order to dramatically increase the number of children who are in school and learning.
FCAS theme conducting evaluation on Complex High-Threat Environments
The Fragile and Conflict Affected States (FCAS) theme has been contracted to evaluate the coverage and quality of UNICEF Humanitarian Response in Complex High-Threat Environments (CHTE). We aim to provide a deep, systematic and objective analysis, across country contexts, to understand the extent to which UNICEF is succeeding to reach affected populations and to generate practical solutions to improve the coverage and quality of UNICEF response to humanitarian crises in CHTEs.
Governance theme work on anti-corruption in the Caribbean
The Governance theme have started work on a summative evaluation of DFID’s Caribbean anti-corruption programming, with a focus on Jamaica. Using a theory based approach, the team aims to better understand the outcomes of the Caribbean Anti-Corruption Programme, assess their likely contribution towards overall impact, and assess the influence of other contextual factors.
Health theme start with work with UNICEF on Adolescent Suicide
The Health theme are working with UNICEF on a summative evaluation and costing of the Pilot Project on Prevention of Adolescent Suicide in Kyzylorda Oblast, Kazakhstan. The team will use a range of evaluation methods, including an evaluability assessment and contribution analysis to understand project outcomes.
Impact investing theme starts major 10-year CDC study
Our new Impact Investing theme have started work on their first major contract, a Longitudinal Study of the CDC Group Plc. This 10-year evaluation of the UK’s development corporation seeks to analyse the mobilisation focus of CDC and its impact on private sector investment flows and investor perceptions and behaviours.
Organisational Effectiveness theme start work in Myanmar for Danida
The Organisational Effectiveness theme is implementing an evaluation of DANIDA’s Myanmar Country programme evaluation, where we are working with the Embassy of Denmark and its implementing partners to assess the progress and performance of the programme across its development engagements in peace, rule of law and human rights, access to basic education and inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
