Localised monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) is imperative to promote a culture of decision-making that is based on locally-generated evidence and responds to local needs.

Done well, localisation of MEL can help build institutional and individual capacity and shift shift power dynamics in support of researchers, advocates, and practitioners in low- and middle-income countries.

Yet, the process often faces significant structural, administrative and ideological barriers.

We are committed to facilitate a shift to greater localisation of MEL practice, so that it is designed, undertaken and disseminated by the populations in which development programmes are delivered.

To support this, we are convening a cross-sector discussion to help advance understandings of how we can localise MEL.

The event will bring together a diverse panel of experts from organisations that play different roles in MEL ecosystem.

Together we will have an open discussion about progress to date in furthering the localisation agenda, the difficulties and barriers that different stakeholders have found in making progress, and what opportunities exist for collaboration and action going forward.
