Michael Moses is the Deputy Director of US Philanthropy at Itad. He has nearly 15 years of experience working at the intersection of strategy, learning, and evaluation in the social impact sector.
He is an expert in using theories of change and systems thinking to drive collaborative, participatory learning processes and adaptive management, has significant expertise in equity-focused evaluation methods, and is an experienced emergent learning practitioner. He has led professional development workshops focused on the use of theory-based evaluation approaches and data analysis for the American Evaluation Association, and written widely on innovation for learning and impact.
Michael has supported many philanthropic partners, including the MacArthur Foundation, the Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies, the Open Society Foundations, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He has also worked extensively with the US Department of State, USAID, and FCDO, as well as nonprofit and government partners across the world.
Before joining Itad, Michael led the philanthropy practice at EnCompass LLC. Prior to that, he led strategic learning and evaluation initiatives at DAI, advising project teams in Malawi, Tunisia, and elsewhere in the use of tailored strategy and evaluation approaches to assess and address complex challenges. Previously, he was Managing Director for Programs and Learning at Global Integrity, and oversaw teams providing strategy, learning, research, and evaluation services to organizations pursuing social impact across the world.
