The Rockefeller Foundation has translated its original mission of promoting the well-being of humanity into two overarching goals: expanding opportunity through equitable growth and strengthening resilience to acute crises and chronic stresses.
At the heart of this lies an emphasis on fostering innovation and shifting paradigms in order to expand opportunity and strengthen resilience for poor and vulnerable people. The Foundation seeks to do this across four systems: natural ecosystems, health and nutrition systems, economic systems and secure livelihoods, and urban systems.
Our role
Itad has been engaged by the Rockefeller Foundation’s Resilience Team to provide targeted support across the organisation to better understand and mainstream resilience concepts and approaches in their work.
Itad is leading and coordinating a range of strategic advisory and knowledge services related to resilience-building across a range of sectors – urban resilience, human health, and ecosystems – relevant to the Foundation’s work. The outputs produced will showcase how resilience can practically be infused through development work worldwide. As a result of this support, the RF Resilience Team will be better equipped to use resilience as a lens in creating and implementing initiatives, and the U.S and international development and evaluation communities will gain practical information on applying and evaluating resilience in economic and social development programmes.
