Lauren Atherton is a skilled MEL Expert and Manager who has spent the past eight years working in International Development. She has undertaken numerous evaluations, third-party monitoring (TPM) pieces, lessons and rapid-research studies. This has spanned programmes on conflict, stabilisation, education, GBV/VAWG, and modern slavery across Africa, South Asia and the Middle East.
Lauren is currently providing MEL technical support on Itad’s CSSF Africa and MENA MEL Partner contracts, having previously worked for 3.5 years on the MEL Unit supporting UK’s Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF) in West Africa.
Prior to this notable roles include:
- Managing and providing MEL expertise on the first TPM of the UN’s Stabilisation Mission in Mali.
- Qualitative Lead on a girls’ education evaluation in Ghana; independent monitoring of modern slavery projects in India and Bangladesh.
- Conducting a Gendered-Conflict Analysis and Maritime Security study in West Africa.
- Researcher and manager on the evaluation of DFID’s What Works to Prevent VAWG programme.
