DFID has provided support to the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) since 2002. This support has been channeled to the EITI Secretariat, to the multi-donor trust fund managed by the World Bank, and through several bilateral programmes.
The review
The EITI is a coalition of governments, companies and civil society that provides a standard for companies to publish what they pay and for governments to disclose what they receive, with the aim that natural resources benefit all. The assignment reviewed DFID support to the EITI from March 2011 to February 2012. This involved a review of available documentation, interviews and meetings with key EITI stakeholders and completion of a report of key findings. The findings of the review were presented to DFID.
