DFID’s Natural Resources Systems Programme (NRSP) aimed to deliver new knowledge that can enable poor people who are largely dependent on natural resources to improve their livelihoods. This new knowledge centres on changes in the management of the natural resources base that can enhance the livelihoods of the poor over a relatively long time frame, thus providing greater livelihoods security and opportunities for the advancement of poor individuals, households or communities. Over the last few decades, there has been a significant urban drift in many developing countries.
