The Regional Agricultural Information and Learning Systems initiative (RAILS) is an agricultural knowledge programme.
It aims to aid agricultural production in Africa by improving the management and adoption of knowledge on innovative agricultural technologies. The initiative is funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB), and managed by the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA).
Our approach
Working with our partner Jimat Development Consultants, we evaluated this knowledge services programme. This included reviewing FARA’s overall results framework; developing an outcome and impact evaluation matrix; and reviewing RAILS activities and interviewing stakeholders in six countries. Our final technical report gave recommendations on tracking and reporting the outcomes and impacts of RAILS initiative. The evaluation fed into the mid-term review of FARA.
