DFID Nigeria has one of DFID’s largest governance portfolios. It plays a critical role in delivering DFID Nigeria’s objective to support the government of Nigeria to use their own resources more effectively and does this mostly through technical assistance.
Our role
Itad provided a team of four consultants to undertake a study that aimed to develop and test a set of public sector governance indicators for DFID’s public sector management portfolio. The key question the indicator set aimed to answer was whether the programming, and the portfolio as a whole, was focused on the right things to lead to a better government over time, how it could better consider and focus future portfolio design, and how to measure it.
Our approach
The assignment involved the design and adaptation of a framework of governance criteria and indicators, verified through a wide process of consultation with stakeholders in Nigeria. The PSR programmes’ logframe indicators were analysed against the framework, with analysis and observations drawn out and presented to DFID, and followed up at a series of high-level strategy workshops.
