AVANTI – advancing knowledge for agricultural impact
2018-2020; IFAD; Multi-country
Itad, in partnership with Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation, has been awarded a grant by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) for the implementation of a tool that will enable national governments to self-assess, identify strengths and gaps and develop action plans on how to strengthen capacities to measure Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This project, known as AVANTI – Advancing Knowledge for Agricultural Impact, will involve the adaptation of an existing tool (CAP-Scan) to the Agriculture and Rural sectors (AG-Scan). The project targets government departments delivering on SDGs relevant to agriculture. The application of this tool is in itself a capacity development exercise. Through nationally owned self-assessments AVANTI seeks to enhance buy in and locally driven solutions to measuring SDGs. The programme has a strong knowledge component in which knowledge generated through AG-Scans will be shared in different global platforms and across participating countries. The approach will be rolled out in up to 20 IFAD borrowing countries globally from 2018 to 2020.
