EITI Results Framework
2011; Cameroon, Liberia, Peru; GIZ
The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) was founded in 2003 as a multi-stakeholder coalition of governments, companies and civil society organisations with the aim to set global transparency standards in the extractive sector.
Whilst the EITI has achieved significant momentum and considerable progress in implementation, recent reviews and evaluations have questioned its impact on governance, corruption, and poverty reduction. Itad was commissioned by the German Development Agency (GIZ) to develop and pilot a tool to assist EITI stakeholders in strengthening the results orientation of the EITI at the country level and thereby support implementing countries to improve their planning, monitoring, and implementation processes. The results framework is intended to strengthen accountability for EITI implementation and incentivise implementing countries to think beyond compliance of the EITI standard. The framework was piloted in Cameroon, Liberia and Peru.Image © Food, Farming, Fishing_Itad
