Support to Musika’s Monitoring and Results Measurement Strategy Development and ‘Mock’ DCED Standard Audit

Itad helped Musika refine its existing systems, tools and processes in order to meet the goals of reporting against the logframe, manage an internal information system and tell the story of how Musika has impacted various levels of clients and beneficiaries.

Musika is an independent Zambian non-profit company owned by key Zambian agricultural institutions that provides business development services to Zambia’s agricultural markets to deepen and broaden the impact of economic growth. Through technical support and a range of catalytic investments, Musika aims to stimulate and deepen commercial market engagement with the rural poor and seeks to fundamentally change the way agricultural markets engage and benefit the smallholder sector.

The aim of the project

The objective of this assignment was to help Musika refine its existing systems, tools and processes in order to meet the goals of reporting against the logframe, manage an internal information system and tell the story of how Musika has impacted various levels of clients and beneficiaries.

Our approach

Itad’s support to Musika was divided into two phases. During Phase 1, Itad supported the development of new and revised monitoring and results measurement documentation and processes to ensure both its applicability to the DCED Standard and also to the operations of Musika. During Phase 2 we conducted a mock audit, which involved a rigorous in-country review of Musika’s MRM documentation and processes, and interviews with key staff and clients to validate the findings.

We then created a full assessment report on Musika’s MRM system and recommendations for strengthening the system prior to a DCED audit.
