Julian has over 30 years’ experience in international development, working globally across a range of sustainable development challenges. He has provided leadership, strategy advice, project management, and performance and evaluation services in areas such as climate change, governance and civil society, gender and social norms, conflict and security, research impact, value for money, adaptive programming, agriculture and natural resources management, and poverty and livelihoods.
Julian has led significant evaluations for clients including DFID and the Rockefeller Foundation, and was technical/results director on three DFID civil society and governance programmes in West Africa, including the innovative SAVI programme. He recently led the development of a long-term evaluation strategy for the GCRF (Global Challenges Research Fund) for the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
Julian has been at Itad since 2001, and is currently Non-Executive Director. He remains closely involved with thought-leadership and coaching at Itad, and he chairs the Audit, Risk and Resilience Committee. He was previously the-President of the UK Evaluation Society.
