Leonie Beckmann joined Itad in August 2019 as a Research Analyst in the Governance and Institutional Strengthening Practice.
Leonie holds an MSc in Economic Development and Growth, awarded jointly by Lund University in Sweden and Universidad Carlos III in Spain. Her two theses assessed the impact of remittances on inequality and poverty in Ecuador, and the impact of foreign education on corruption. She also received a BSc in Economics and Business Economics with a focus on Emerging Markets from Maastricht University.
During her studies, she worked in Ecuador and did research on the impact of Fairtrade on the well-being of Ecuadorian smallholder farmers.
