María Pomés-Jiménez joined Itad in 2018 as a Principal Consultant in the Education Theme.
María has over 10 years’ experience in policy research and evaluation at an international level. Most recently, she was a consultant to the World Bank’s Education, Human Development and Social Protection teams. She has also worked with EU institutions and agencies and other international and multilateral intuitions. More broadly, she has focused primarily on three policy areas; a) education, and the investments that can enhance both access and quality of learning, b) employment, particularly policy programs that are targeted towards those furthest away from the labour market, and c) social protection and social inclusion, predominantly for minorities or the most disadvantaged.
María works across the complete research cycle, from the definition of the scope to the data collection, architecture and analytics, to the preparation of knowledge and dissemination products. She is a mixed methods analyst having worked on econometric analyses of big data and public consultations or in-depth interviews and case studies. She has a wide management experience at national, European and international level from both the private and public sector. She was previously a lobbyist in London and Brussels and a radio news broadcaster. She holds a Master’s in Public Policy from Georgetown University and a BA in Journalism from the University of Navarre. She is fluent in English and Spanish, has working knowledge of French, and can understand Portuguese and Italian.
