Nateisha Decruz-Young

Nateisha Decruz-Young joined Itad as a Consultant in the Governance theme in Autumn 2017 and was promoted Senior Consultant in Autumn 2019. She has over 11 years’ experience in international development and public policy, with a focus on strategy development, project management and monitoring and evaluation.

Prior to joining Itad, Nateisha was the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist for the British Council on an Asian Development Bank project for the Government of Meghalaya (India). She was also an investigator on an impact evaluation, led by the Government of Nepal and funded by 3ie, that used a randomised control trial methodology. Her recent experience also includes developing policies, strategies and managing high-profile multi-million pound projects for the Mayor of London.

Nateisha holds a Masters of Science in Social Policy and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is experienced in designing and undertaking qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis as well as in providing capacity building for government officials and field investigators.

Conducted workshops, developed handbooks and on-the-job support in areas including logical framework approach, data collection, data analysis and reporting. Led on the strategic development and implementation of the government’s first state-wide School Improvement Plan. Developed tools and processes for evaluating educational initiatives such as the infrastructure upgrade for 117 schools and teacher training for 682 schools.Contributed to a business development strategy– raised £250,000 and a pledge of a further £1 million in just the first year. Shaping the research design and methodology on the role of external actors involving case studies on Mozambique, Nigeria and Pakistan. A4EA is an international research programme, commissioned by DFID, that explores how social and political action contributes to empowerment and accountability in fragile, conflict and violent settings. The first phase explored adaptive programming in fragile settings.

She designed qualitative questionnaires of school personnel and stakeholders to better inform the upcoming baseline (quantitative) surveys. She led workshops on how to conduct interviews and focus group discussions and undertook training and supervising of field investigators.
